About

Boston. 1976. Former minor league baseball pitcher Jimmy Bailey is leaving a maximum-security prison after serving time for a crime he didn't commit. He looks forward to starting life again. Will baseball be in his future? He has a tattered note in his pocket from the owner of the Boston Red Sox, promising him a job at Fenway Park when he gets out. That's what got him through the horrible experience of being in jail. His sister Debbie, who's in the process of earning her doctorate at Harvard, picks him up, only to be harassed by one of the guards of the way out. She shuts him down, embarrassing him in front of a group of other guards. This incident leads to mysterious events of stalking, kidnapping, assaults, and even a murder at the prison involving Jimmy, Debbie and their mother--and a handsome detective. The novel takes readers on a journey through Boston and Cambridge, as well as visits to Fenway Park, with cameo appearances by Red Sox players of that era. But does Jimmy ever take to the mound again?
